You’ve decided to get a beautiful new aluminum fence installed around your yard, but how can you choose from the many different types of aluminum fence posts on the market? Each fence post is designed to serve a specific purpose, so use our tips below to determine which aluminum fence post is right for your needs.
Line Fence Posts
Line posts are punched on two opposite sides and are typically placed in the middle of a length of fencing. Line aluminum fence posts are the “in between” posts that are used in between corners and ends of your fence. These will always have two different connections.
Corner Fence Posts
Corner posts have two different punches that are adjacent at a 90-degree angle. These aluminum fence posts are designed to help turn the direction of your fence in another direction and are used for the corners of the fence. Like line fence posts, corner fence posts will always have two different connections.
End Fence Posts
End posts have holes punched on one side of the fence post. This type of aluminum fence post is typically used at the very end of a fence design, like up against a house or at the end of a long straight line of fence.
Gate End Fence Posts
Just like the other type of end posts, gate end aluminum fence posts are only punched on one side. The main difference between the two types of posts is their thickness and use. Gate end posts are about twice as thick and twice as heavy, so they are easy to tell apart. They are used to hang gates, so they need to be stronger and more durable. Gate end posts always have one fence connection and one gate connection.
Blank Fence Posts
Blank posts have no punches anywhere on the post surface. These are similar in size and weight to gate end fence posts and they typically aren’t used in the average fence construction design. They will occasionally be used in unique situations.
