You read it right! Winter really is the best time for fence construction. How could that be? It’s cold, it snows, nobody wants to be outside for more than a few minutes… what’s the deal? Well, as it turns out, the bitter cold and gloominess of winter is in your benefit for fence construction, especially in Northern Virginia.
There are a few good reasons to consider having your fence construction done in the winter, and we’ll list them here for you.
Reason #1: It’s Cheaper
That’s a pretty good reason in itself. Because most people believe winter is a bad time for fence construction, fencing contractors don’t see a lot of business this time of year. However, as we just discussed, winter actually is a good time for fence construction. So, if you call and schedule your fence construction for this winter, you’ll benefit from a better deal than the warmer months when the contractors get the most business.
Reason #2: It’s Dry
But what about snow?! For Northern Virginia, yes, we do see snow. However, the majority of the winter is dry, with little precipitation, which means the ground is dry. This is prime fence construction weather. Even with a little snow on the ground, it’s still better than trying to build a fence in the spring, when it’s constantly raining and the ground is soaked.
Reason #3: Your Fence Will Be Ready for Spring
Most people choose to have their fence built in the season that they want their fence to be there. Since contractors can have packed schedules, and weather can interfere, it may not be done when you want it to be done. Having it done ahead of time, in winter, ensures your beautiful new fence will be ready come spring. Besides, a nice ornamental steel or vinyl fence is very attractive against a snowy landscape.
